Living in the richest city of Ancient times, resources were bountiful and life was grand. Every luxury surrounds you, and unlike any other cities this time, convenience is everywhere. There was an ancient gentlemen entertainment brothel house to suit every taste.
Conclusions: Prostitution in ancient rome reflected the ambivalent behaviour attitudes of romans towards pleasure and sexuality. prostitution was legal and licensed. Some large brothels in the 4th century, when Rome was becoming officially Christianized, seem to have been counted as tourist attractions. Brothels during this period were typically small with only a few rooms. The Lupanar was the largest of the brothels found in Pompeii with 10 rooms. This is significant as it shows that people in Pompeii had open views about sex and brothels existed back then. People weren't ashamed about sex or hide brothels. There is also graffiti outside brothels that shows what people thought about sex and prostitutes and that it was common and accepted.
